Base Board: The base board is designed to function with all members of the 8x930 USB family including HUB and non-HUB devices. When used with the 8x931Ax/Hx Adapter Board, it functions with all members of the 8x931 family as well.
The base board contains 32k bytes of EPROM with a Reduced Instruction Set Monitor (RISM). It is also equipped with one upstream USB port and four downstream USB ports, and 128k byte SRAM for use as Program Memory and/or Data Memory, in addition to the memory internal to the 8x930 device. Two UARTs, both the internal UART and a 16C550 external UART, are provided with RS232 interfaces to a Host PC or other application.
Software Demo Packages: Included in the Evaluation Kit are software packages from Keil or PLC that can allow the designer to develop code in assembly language or C and debug their programs through the simulator environment or by interfacing to the development board designed around the 8x931 family USB devices. The programs can be downloaded to the board through an RS232 serial link. The developers can run the code, step through it, and set breakpoints.
The debugger environment provided with both Keil and PLC tools is completely interoperable with the hardware and allows a variety of debugging Techniques.
8x931Ax/Hx Adapter Board : The 8x931Ax/Hx USB Adapter Board is designed to implement the functionality of the Universal Serial Bus by allowing use of the Intel 8x931 Family USB Peripheral Controllers. Used together with Intel's 8x930 Family USB Evaluation Board, this adapter card can provide a complete development environment for the USB system designer.
NOTE: If a customer already has the 8x930 base board (Rev B), the 8x931 Adapter Board is offered separately.
